2026-01-12 20:01:50 +0100 <geekosaur> ah
2026-01-12 19:36:37 +0100 <liskin> And then we still need my automation to keep tested-with in the cabal files up to date, btw
2026-01-12 19:35:58 +0100 <liskin> That sounds like a fun exercise...
2026-01-12 19:35:48 +0100 <liskin> If anything, we could perhaps make a patch (or something) that uses haskell-ci for the boilerplate and then replaces the static matrix with get-tested to reduce the yaml churn in git
2026-01-12 19:34:24 +0100 <liskin> Very little of the boilerplate comes from the big patch.
2026-01-12 18:16:42 +0100 <geekosaur> and how much of the boilerplate in haskell-ci comes from that big patch 🙂
2026-01-12 18:16:18 +0100 <geekosaur> the big thing I see in get-tested is that it doesn't need a cron job, it generates the matrix on the fly

2026-01-12 11:06:21 +0100 <liskin> I wanted to make the auto regen thing be more aware but the only point of that is so we don't need to open the PRs within a few weeks. If we can open them, that's almost certainly better...
2026-01-12 11:05:12 +0100 <liskin> We could just open PRs to haskell-ci btw...
2026-01-12 11:04:44 +0100 <liskin> Agreed with Solid, the PR doesn't look like something we want to adopt and maintain, unless haskell-ci is truly dead (which it is not, last time I checked). And even then, someone else would take over most likely, it's not like we have the extra resources to maintain it
2026-01-12 10:42:58 +0100 <haskellbridge> <Solid> I wonder if this is a necessary change, actually; it seems to me that haskell-ci works just fine, we just need to make liskins automatic bumps aware of dependabot

2026-01-11 22:55:36 +0100 <geekosaur> (d'oh! reusing the same cache names as HCI wasn't the greatest of ideas)
2026-01-11 22:03:52 +0100 <geekosaur> okay, artifacts was my fault (typo). caches… are being saved (!) (or at least found) but still reporting an error for some reason
2026-01-11 21:57:46 +0100 <geekosaur> but can't save caches and didn't generate artifacts. sigh.
2026-01-11 21:45:35 +0100 <geekosaur> otherwise it succeeded this time
2026-01-11 21:45:28 +0100 <geekosaur> hm, something wrong with the cache save

2026-01-11 21:25:34 +0100 <geekosaur> at this point it's running, at least (or is getting farther than previous attempts, since I replaced all the matrix refs with GT-compatible ones after `jq`ing its generated matrix)
2026-01-11 21:23:57 +0100 <geekosaur> sadly it's not a drop-in replacement; Haskell-CI provides more information in its matrix, so I have to switch some things to use env instead and others to use hardcoded things (have to see if Get Tested supports other compilers, but (a) I suspect no (b) neither do we, really
2026-01-11 21:22:25 +0100 <geekosaur> I'm poking at translatingg the Haskell-CI job to use Get Tested instead
