| 2026-03-16 06:23:51 +0100 | <haskellbridge> | <BloodLines> honestly as far as DWM went, I prefered dusk which is a fork the guy that made the flexipatch did. still left it simple, but added a lot of just the basic functions you would need. I used it for ~3-4 years. Would still be using it but I was finally able to ditch kodi which was the only reason I was not able to use xmonad in the past. |

| 2026-03-16 09:02:02 +0100 | <haskellbridge> | <Solid> River looks pretty neat, actually, and, from a brief read, much like what liskin was envisioning in terms of composability and wm-restartability, though I guess we'd still need to write lots of utility libs that other languages just have libraries for |

| 2026-03-16 12:08:19 +0100 | <haskellbridge> | <ymeister> Hey, was River (https://isaacfreund.com/software/river/) already mentioned? (I've scrolled a bit of chat history and didn't see anything) |

| 2026-03-16 13:04:25 +0100 | <liskin> | Leary: we try to have CI green at all times, and we've spent some effort to make it not too difficult (like enabling some warnings on one version of ghc only) - I'm happy to have a look at what your PR needs later |
| 2026-03-16 13:05:47 +0100 | <liskin> | I believe I have mentioned river in the past, although I don't think it was the same thing back then. This standardised wm protocol doesn't ring any bells in my head |

| 2026-03-16 15:18:21 +0100 | <haskellbridge> | <Solid> there's a wm in janet that's only like 600 lines (plus however much code is needed for a wayland scanner + client lib) |
