2024-04-26 01:21:33 +0000 <geekosaur> acidbong, if you use `launch` you must have a config from somewhere, otherwise you get the default (as with `xmonad def`). it will not use your xmonad.hs. I haven't used that workflow in a couple decades, but did back when I ran a highly customized KDE3 environment (but `launch` didn't exist back then so I ran `xmonad-x86_64-linux` directly instead).

2024-04-26 16:46:16 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> This window is always created by D2SE.exe wine program in Linux as a floating window. I'm for the life of me can't figure out how to make it a stuck window on top and not floating window. I have to manually hit meta+t. Is there a way to make this window not float in haskell code?

2024-04-26 16:58:42 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> So I'm using WM_NAME which should be Diablo II
2024-04-26 16:59:03 +0000 <fizzie> Assuming the bridge isn't leaving anything out of the paste, `role` and `name` are unused there.

2024-04-26 16:59:31 +0000 <fizzie> Your test in what came over to IRC is: className `oneOf` [ "Diablo II" ] --> (something).
2024-04-26 16:59:35 +0000 <fizzie> That's className, not WM_NAME.
2024-04-26 16:59:49 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> https://bpa.st/I7FQ full code for reference
2024-04-26 17:00:06 +0000 <fizzie> Well, same thing.
2024-04-26 17:00:10 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> So how do I target the Diablo II WM_NAME exactly?
2024-04-26 17:00:41 +0000 <fizzie> Use `name` where it now says `className`. Like you do up there on line 123.

2024-04-26 17:01:27 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> I just explained why I can't use D2SE
2024-04-26 17:02:26 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> Brilliant. Using 'name' works. I see how this is linked together now
2024-04-26 17:02:35 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> Thank you very much my friend. Happy friday!
2024-04-26 17:06:35 +0000 <fizzie> Oh, missed the part about the launcher vs. the game. Sure. And yeah, that's using the local definition of `name`. There's also a `title` query that's exported from XMonad, that should also work: https://hackage.haskell.org/package/xmonad-0.18.0/docs/XMonad-ManageHook.html#v:title -- though I guess you might as well stick with what works.

2024-04-26 17:50:29 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> So this window name is also Diablo II. And this one gets fullscreened and unfloated and looks like this when sunk
2024-04-26 17:50:30 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> So is there a way to launch some program and manually give it a name/class etc?
2024-04-26 17:50:31 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> So I can tag diff windows and target them?
2024-04-26 17:52:53 +0000 <geekosaur> only if the program itself supports it
2024-04-26 17:53:39 +0000 <geekosaur> many (not all) legacy X11 programs support `-name` (but no way to set the class); many (but not all) gtk and qt programs offer `--name` and `--class`

2024-04-26 22:23:27 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> Everyone said I was better. I felt better.
2024-04-26 22:23:34 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> Hoping abilify can do the same.
2024-04-26 22:24:17 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> In fact you even have witnessed a few of my autism episodes
2024-04-26 22:24:33 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> Doing better than before, but still much work to be done
2024-04-26 22:25:24 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> For me it's mainly sound. Certain noises pain me. Certain types of music physically pain me.
2024-04-26 22:25:37 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> Anyway, glad to be alive still.
2024-04-26 22:26:22 +0000 <geekosaur> I rarely have reactions to specific lights/sounds, usually I just overload *really* easily
2024-04-26 22:26:56 +0000 <geekosaur> (exception: nearby sirens throw off my vestibular system completely. the world literally flips sideways and back)
2024-04-26 22:28:25 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> But hey, at least we're very smart people. More than average
2024-04-26 22:28:38 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> Comes with the territory. Haskell isn't easy. Xmonad isn't easy. You're an expert.
2024-04-26 22:29:14 +0000 <haskellbridge> <Nexilva> I am good at other things. Guitar. Programming in other languages. etc. etc. problem solving is really my thing
2024-04-26 23:34:29 +0000 <haskellbridge> <7actose> I was reading the configuration tutorial and saw the ewmhFullscreen combinator makes fullscreen actually fullscreen. Is there a way to still get the fake fullscreen functionality even with this? It would be cool to allow for both
