2022-09-18 14:37:37 +0200 <Henson> I'm trying to get back into XMonad after having used 0.8 many years ago. A problem I noticed with 0.17 is with a tabbed view, when switching from a fullscreen view to a multi-column view with tabs, there is some kind of crazy window focus loop happening where the focus rapidly switches between all open windows very rapidly and interacting with windows stops working. Sometimes this problem...
2022-09-18 14:38:00 +0200 <Henson> resolves on its own, or more often I have to kill the X session. Does anybody know what might be causing this?

2022-09-18 16:16:34 +0200 <geekosaur> Henson: I can't think of anything that would cause that except using `XMonad.Operations.windows` in the `logHook`, but that was just as bad in 0.8 (it causes an infinite loop, since `X.O.windows` runs the `logHook`)

2022-09-18 22:20:25 +0200 <Spiker01[m]> Hi all. I don't program in Haskell at the moment but decided to give it a try Xmonad. My system is Arch GNU/Linux. I have tried compiling simple files with ghc and they compile. When I type xmonad --recompile from the terminal emulator, it displays the error in a separate window (Xorg), as a result, I cannot copy the contents of the error. How do I send output to the terminal?

2022-09-18 22:21:09 +0200 <geekosaur> it's supposed to also send it to the terminal

2022-09-18 22:23:08 +0200 <geekosaur> you can also check the file `xmonad.errors`, which is either in ~/.xmonad or ~/.local/share/xmonad/xmonad.errors
2022-09-18 22:23:39 +0200 <Spiker01[m]> geekosaur: This is not happening. In the terminal, he writes only that the font is not defined with accuracy (only 2-3 lines), but in the window he gives out a huge log, sometimes more than on the screen.

2022-09-18 22:38:34 +0200 <Spiker01[m]> <geekosaur> "you can also check the file `..." <- It works and now it gives me an error, or rather a warning. Do I need to fix it? https://pastebin.com/WrHhTLB9

2022-09-18 22:41:05 +0200 <geekosaur[m]> It's just a warning currently, but you should replace `defaultConfig` with `def`.

2022-09-18 23:24:16 +0200 <Henson> one problem I have is too many windows. I'd like to have a way of searching through all windows but without a list. I've tried gotoMenu, but it's just a tiny line that's too big to hold 30 windows. I tried GridSelect but the boxes are too small to show the full text of the windows. Does anybody have any suggestions on good techniques for finding windows? I was hoping for something with...
2022-09-18 23:24:49 +0200 <Henson> a search ability, kind of like how VSCode allows you to open files in a project using partial matching, or some ability to search by workspace and window name.

2022-09-18 23:37:18 +0200 <Henson> geekosaur: cool, I'll check this out!
2022-09-18 23:37:24 +0200 <geekosaur> mrr, not seeing where the fuzzy matching stuff went now, thought it was a custom searchPredicate
2022-09-18 23:41:17 +0200 <Henson> it does have some kind of search ability, though. That might be good enough
2022-09-18 23:43:47 +0200 <geekosaur> here it is https://hackage.haskell.org/package/xmonad-contrib-0.17.1/docs/XMonad-Prompt-FuzzyMatch.html
