2022-11-28 16:07:47 +0100 <LemanR> hey all, I just have a quick question in regards to xmonad & waymonad. Insofar as we can tell, will the xmonad config be, at least, mostly compatible with waymonad?
2022-11-28 16:08:57 +0100 <vrs> unless something happened while I didn't look, all existing waymonad projects are not directly affiliated with xmonad, the technical basis would be very different, the conceptual basis too, and it'd be very unlikely that you see compatible configs
2022-11-28 16:10:43 +0100 <LemanR> K thanks. I've been getting into haskell lately so this will be good for me to keep in mind. atm I've recently learned algebraic data types (sum) so I'm still probably far away from making my own custom waymonad config.
2022-11-28 16:11:28 +0100 <LemanR> unfortunately I gotta go but I won't be a stranger as i get more into my xmonad config.

2022-11-28 18:05:35 +0100 <disobey> I am trying to build xmonad with stack. xmonad package, stack.yaml and my custom xmonad.hs are in the same directory. but when i am using stack install it builds xmonad without my custom configuration. then i compile xmonad again using xmonad --recompile. but this time my custom xmonad.hs compiles and linked to the binary.
2022-11-28 18:06:33 +0100 <disobey> I can see from the logs that `xmonad --recompile` uses the stack.yaml file.
2022-11-28 18:10:45 +0100 <geekosaur[m]> You may be a bit confused. When stack builds XMonad it is building the master executable and library, not your configuration. xmonad --recompile then uses stack ghc to compile your configuration against the previously built XMonad library
2022-11-28 18:18:09 +0100 <disobey> Finally understood. I should have joined here earlier.
