2022-02-01 09:36:24 +0100 <kitty1> dnzm: thanks, that led me to a solution. For some reason typing kprt into the config file instead of any shortening of return or enter seems to be working, and it recognizes it correctly as a return. not sure why this is happening but eh whatever its working now lmaooo

2022-02-01 14:08:36 +0100 <Solid> nivpgir[m]: you should probably escape at least some of those qotes

2022-02-01 14:08:38 +0100meain(~meain@2001:470:69fc:105::2db)
2022-02-01 14:09:02 +0100 <Solid> (I'm surprised this parses at all, actually)
2022-02-01 14:22:30 +0100 <dnzm> maybe it parses but not correctly? I'm not sure how windows does expanding (or not), maybe you could try single quotes instead of double quotes for the inner string?
2022-02-01 14:30:45 +0100 <Solid> mh indeed the second string it optional for cmd-button
2022-02-01 14:31:57 +0100 <Solid> but actually parsers have to consume the whole thing inside parens
2022-02-01 14:32:27 +0100 <nivpgir[m]> oh, it's not just the quotes, I guess I should've started with a simpler example, even this doesn't work `pwd (cmd-button "echo PWD >> C:/Users/Niv/kmonad.wtf/pwd.txt")`
2022-02-01 14:32:43 +0100 <nivpgir[m]> s/Niv/username/
2022-02-01 14:41:58 +0100 <nivpgir[m]> (I actually started with a much more complex example, and reduced it to this, my attempt with git-bash was because I wanted to try if it will work when I pass a full path to an executable
2022-02-01 14:42:27 +0100 <Solid> I have no idea about windows but my guess would be that the shell that createProcess spawns doesn't know about echo
2022-02-01 14:42:57 +0100 <Solid> what about something simple like `(cmd-button "firefox")`?
2022-02-01 14:44:01 +0100 <nivpgir[m]> hmm, sure, ill try
2022-02-01 14:47:37 +0100Solidhas a meeting now but will be back later
2022-02-01 14:51:09 +0100 <nivpgir[m]> <Solid> "what about something simple like..." <- didn't work
2022-02-01 15:09:57 +0100 <nivpgir[m]> I can't find any example of anyone using `cmd-button` on windows, I hope maybe someone in the discord channel will see this and have some insight, otherwise I'll have to dive in to the code, and I don't really have time for that anytime soon.
2022-02-01 18:37:33 +0100 <dnzm> Eh, doubt firefox is in the PATH, how about a full path to whatever/firefox.exe?
2022-02-01 18:38:29 +0100 <dnzm> AFAIK you can leave off the exe part (or at least you could in DOS), but windows still needs to be able to find the binary
2022-02-01 18:52:23 +0100 <nivpgir[m]> <dnzm> "Eh, doubt firefox is in the PATH..." <- I tried the full path, it didn't work as well.
2022-02-01 18:52:23 +0100 <nivpgir[m]> however the full path still has a space in it so I still had to escape the quotes of the full path, which could be cause the bug? I don't have an idea for an application that's on the path but not under "Program Files" that has a side effect that I can see, I could write my own :P, maybe I will, but I can't right now.
2022-02-01 18:57:45 +0100 <Solid> well goes to show how much I know about windows :]
2022-02-01 18:58:01 +0100 <Solid> nivpgir[m]: presumably you can just escape the space, right?
